Obituary for Andrew Joseph Kwandibens

It is with profound sadness that the family of Andrew (Jitamo) Kwandibens announce his peaceful passing at the TBRHSC in the afternoon of September 4, 2022 with family by his side.

Andrew was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on August 9, 1955. He was a survivor of Indian Residential School. He was a lifetime resident of Whitesand First Nation. Jitamo enjoyed being outdoors especially camping, fishing, and going for walks. While indoors he loved to listen to music and to play poker stars online.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Berta Toset-Kwandibens, his mother Cecilia Kwandibens, sister Yvette Kwandibens (Rick), brothers Mike Metansinine (Tracy), Ron Metansinine and Robert Metaninine. Also survived by his parents-in-law Duncan Toset and Louise Nagotchi, sisters-in-law Betty (Joe), Linda, Colleen, Benita, Celina and Doretta (George), brothers-in-law Henry (Tracy), Joe, Vernon and Duncan Jr. (Phyllis).

Jitamo had no children of his own; however, all of his nieces and nephews had a special place in his heart.

Andrew was predeceased by his father Mike Wabason, his dad Raymond Kwandibens Sr., siblings Alfreda Kwandibens, Doreen Kwandibens, Raymond Kwandibens Jr., Allan Lachinette and Evelyn Lachinette.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. Jitamo will be taken home to Armstrong to the family home on Thursday evening. A Funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Snows R.C. Church in Armstrong.
