Obituary for Ann Karlyn Roach

LOVINGLY REMEMBERED
ANN KARLYN ROACH
MAY 1922- OCTOBER 2018

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Ann Roach, on Friday, October 12th. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Mom moved to Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) with her family at a young age. In the early years she worked at the City Offices, Lands and Forest, and Shipyards before marrying Carl on August 30, 1947. Flowers gave Mom much joy and her spectacular pink geranium planters and garden were a tribute to the hours of nurturing. She loved playing bridge with her friends and enjoyed entertaining. Many of these relationships grew into lifelong friendships. Other interests included reading; shopping and coffee with friends; and watching sports, especially curling and Blue Jays baseball. Mom loved to travel with Dad and attended Lion's conventions and vacationed with good friends. She was an active member of the Lionelles and served briefly as president. After Dad passed she loved visiting her family in Edmonton and Calgary. She was very proud of her children and treasured her granddaughters. Our beautiful Mom, a classy lady, will be terribly missed. Her memory will be cherished by daughter Deborah Gougeon; sons Barry and Brian (Karen) Roach; granddaughters Amanda and Andrea Gougeon, Samantha and Madison Roach; and nephew Richard (Karen) Maki. Ann was predeceased by her loving husband Carl Edward in 1995, and her sister Rose Maki in 2013. A Memorial reception will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 pm with words of Tribute at 2:00 p.m. in the Sargent Family Reception Center, 21 N. Court Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish they may make a memorial tribute in Ann's name to the charity of their choice. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
