Obituary for Bernadine Louise Thivierge

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Bernadine Louise Thivierge on April 18th, 2023 in the company of her dear husband Larry.

A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, Bernadine was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Known for her sweet, kind nature and infectious laugh, Bernadine lived her life with optimism, faith and joy that will remain as an example for all of us that had the good fortune to know and love her.

As the oldest of Steve and Victoria Raynak’s three children, Bernadine attended St. Martin Elementary School and Westgate High School in Westfort and worked for Cole McCubbin where she met the love of her life, Larry Thivierge. While caring for their three children was a priority, Bernadine rejoined the workforce in 1986 and spent 22 years working for Revenue Canada. Her retirement years were spent on numerous trips, winters in Florida or Arizona, singing in the St. Anthony Church choir, keeping up with friends and doting on her three grandkids.

Bernadine leaves behind Larry, her husband of 54 years, children Paul (Paula), Matthew, and Aimee (Jay Bruce); grandchildren Dean, Emma, and Elliott, siblings Steven Jr., Patty (Ken Johnson); dear nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins and lifelong friends. She is predeceased by her parents Steve and Victoria and sister Michelle.

The family gratefully acknowledges the efforts of Bernadine’s care team: Dr. Cappello, Dr. Asayev, Dr. Bezanson and the phenomenal nursing team in 1A.

Services will be held at St. Anthony R.C. Church on Monday April 24th, 2023. A brief visitation at 10:30am will precede the Memorial Mass at 11:00am. Those wishing to attend the service virtually may do so at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gVILING6FU. Bernadine will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony in St. Andrew’s Cemetery following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
