Bill Allan McKay
December 6, 1953 - November 22, 2022
Billy was born in Sioux Lookout Ontario to the parents of Irene and James McKay. Billy lived the first 11 years of his life in Savant Lake, Ontario. Moving to Thunder Bay, Ontario with the family where he graduated from Lakeview High School in 1970.
In the early years after high school Billy worked as an accountant/clerk for the CPR in Thunder Bay.
Later on he moved to Chetwynd BC. where he owned a restaurant there and was an accomplished chef.
Throughout his life he lived in Prince George, BC, and Edmonton, Alberta working as a “bush cook” at the camps around the provinces.
Billy loved the circus as he called it and worked many summers at Thomas Exhibitions around the provinces and throughout the states.
He lived his remaining years in Thunder Bay where he worked as a cook at the Salvation Army and the Legion.
Billy passed away at Hogarths River Manor having suffered from cancer and many mini strokes.
Billy is survived by his immediate family of sisters and brothers, Betty Chalifoux (Bill), Grande Prairie, AB, Helen Mehaffey (Lloyd Heggart) Thunder Bay, ON, Jack McKay (Judy), Ignace ON, Jo-Ann Sutherland (Barry) Saskatoon, SK, Bryan McKay (Judy), Midland, ON, Joyce Bice (Cliff Rule), Hythe, AB, Lois Simmonds, Thunder Bay, ON, Robert McKay (Cathy), Thunder Bay, ON. As well as many nieces any nephews, and cousins Beverly Walker and Marvin Nelson and sister-in-law Marilyn McKay.
Billy was predeceased by the late: his father James McKay in 1975, his mother Irene McKay in 2004, brothers: TR (Thomas) McKay 2016, sisters-in-law Joan McKay 2021, Keith McKay (2019), brother-in-laws: Robert Mehaffey (1994), Lorne Simmonds (2006), Aunt Elizabeth Nelson (2003), nephews: Rick McKay (1997), Bryan Best (2017), nieces: Jacqueline Simmonds 2019 and Michelle McKay, 2021.
