Obituary for Byron Neil Maki

Byron Maki, age 43, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2023.

Byron was born February 29, 1980 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He grew up in Lappe attending Gorham and Ware School and Hillcrest High School and was a member of Lappe Lutheran church.

He loved the outdoors especially fishing with his son Brady on ice or in the boat. He enjoyed quadding, skidooing, snowboarding, golfing and also had a passion for working out at the gym.

He was an extremely hard worker and skilled skidder operator. He never shied away from long days working in the bush.

Byron’s love for his family and animals showed his true loving heart. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need, even if it meant him going without, and always did it with a genuine smile on his face.

Bryon will be forever missed by his son Brady; father Mark (Kathleen); mother Debra (Brian); partner Rebecca Maw and family; siblings Erin, Kristen (Dustin) Blunt; nieces and nephews Kiley, Katie, Emma and Caiden: Grandmother Sophie Thompson; aunt Sandra (Daryl) Moore; as well as other numerous relatives and friends.

Predeceased by his grandparents Neil and Aili Maki and Gerald Thompson (Mary).

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 in the Kaministiquia Community Centre with Rev Neil Otke of Lappe Lutheran Church.

In true Byron style, we ask that everyone attending to please wear your favourite Bush Boots!

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Trust to Brady Maki, care of Kristin Blunt, RBC - Alloy Drive Branch, Thunder Bay.
