Obituary for Caroline Rose Tebishgoeshik

Caroline Tebishgoeshik, age 66 years, from Whitesand First Nation passed away on Wednesday June 2, 2021.

Caroline our Matriarch of the Tebishgoeshik/Tibishkogijig family was born in Sioux Lookout, raised in Ferland, ON, later moved to Armstrong, ON. Caroline made her home to many family members who she loved and care for. Caroline enjoyed being with others. She certainly was not shy and was usually the first to strike up a conversation with anyone. She was kind and loved helping others. She had a great sense of humor and could be so straight forward in telling it as she seen it. Caroline was a hard worker, she liked cooking traditional foods and her awesome bannock, she sure loved her eating. She loved spending time out on the land and picking blueberries. Caroline took pride in working as a guard at Armstrong OPP detachment in her younger years, this could be why she religiously watched her favorite weekly tv shows such as Rookie Blue, Blue Bloods, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and 911. Caroline also enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards, poker, bingo, Yahtzee and 1000 dice game. She loved going “cruzin around and drifting”, if there was someone going somewhere, you could bet she was jumping in. Caroline loved being around all the kids, ensuring they knew she loved them. Some considered her their “Granny” as she took on her role well.

Caroline will be missed and lovingly remembered by her brother Chris (Tanya); nieces Shannon (Larry), Lisa (Lionel), Crystal and Alora, nephews Clifford (Hope), Randy (Melanie), Wayne, Douglas Jr. (Dawnis), Darin, Joshua and Tarcisius, aunt Cecilia Kwandibens and Nora Thompson; several great-nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. Caroline was predeceased by her daughter Gloria-Jean; parents Frank and Amelia; grandparents Peter and Elizabeth; sisters Sarah, Jeanette, Doris and Kathleen; brothers Arthur, Kenneth, Douglas Sr, Noel, Ronnie, Peter John and Gabriel; nieces Kristen and Jeanette; nephew Gabriel; aunts Mary Tibishkogijig, Liza Head, Stella Gustafson and Mary Willoughby; and uncles Tommy Head, Harry Head, Victor Head, Gerry Head and Joe Head.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on June 4, 2021, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. 10 people at a time for 15 minute increments.
