Obituary for Charles Nenance
Charles (Boogie) was born in Whitesand North Shore of Lake Nipigon, child of Joseph Nenance and Emma Matinet. Charles was the 2nd eldest of their children. Charles was married to Josephine Yellowhead of Collin’s Ontario. Charles had no biological children of his own.
Charles was a lone-person, did much on his own, he was employed with The CNR back in the day, and later did trapping on the family trap line.
He spent much of his married life in Mud River, after the flooding of Lake Nipigon. He and his wife Josephine built a cabin in Green-231, a rain line community where they resided and trapped for many years.
Charles and his wife separated in the early 70’s where he moved to Armstrong and his wife moved to Thunder Bay. Charles and his wife raised two girls “Diane and Arlene Yellowhead”, nieces of his wife.
As they parted ways, and Charles lived in Armstrong, this is where he met his long-time companion “Lena Kwissisens” of Gull Bay First Nation. They remained together for 25 years, up until her passing in 2001.
Together they shared their lives in Gull Bay, they quit drinking and took an interest in Bingo, and blueberry picking was a passion they both shared. Lena had many children, and Charles became a welcoming member of their union.
After Lena’s passing Charles had resided in Armstrong with his sister Josephine Doblej, and with his brother Isadore Donio nearby, he remained close to his family. Charles was always happy to see his younger sister Nancy Leonard and her husband Rick when they came to visit from Prince George, BC.
There was 4 siblings in the family and tightly knit.
Charles will be lovingly remembered by his sister Nancy and brother Isadore, many nieces, nephews and step children. Many thanks to Annette Brisard for her loving support during this trying time. Also, a big thank you goes out to Whitesand Chief and Council for their “Unrelenting Support” and their band members.
Funeral service for “Charlie Nenance” will be at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church starting at one o’clock, Saturday June 27, prayers and visitation Friday evening, Refreshments will be available
