Obituary for Christopher George Leach

It is with deep sorrow that we share the peaceful passing of Christopher George Leach at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on February 20, 2023.

Chris was born in Port Arthur on October 14, 1969 and attended Oliver Road Public School and PACI. He played hockey and football as a youth and continued to follow the Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Eagles throughout his adult life. Most of his work experiences were in the restaurant industry and in construction and renovation. Chris enjoyed playing golf and working with wood. He had an everlasting love and connection to music.

Our redhead found a love of gardening and had quite the green thumb. In the kitchen, he used ingredients creatively and enjoyed preparing food for friends and family. He loved family get togethers and was always first to help with cleanup.

Chris believed in family traditions and values and was proud of his English, Irish and Finnish heritage. The people who knew Chris best will remember the love he had for his children, his family and his friends. They will remember his gentle, sentimental soul, his wonderful smile, his warm hugs, his competitive ways, and his love of fun.

Chris will be lovingly remembered by his partner, Angèle Bibeau; children, Malcolm and Hannah and their mother, Leah Fraser; parents, Brian and Paula; brother, Harris; niece, Elliott; aunts, Mary-Ellen (Ric) Bodner, Debbie Leach (Clarence Comeau), Maija (Glenn) Wilson, Donna Aho; uncles, Matti and Harry Alatyppö; cousins, Marnie, Scott, Jeff, Sarah, Monique, Jennifer, Darcy, Alex, Zack, Erik, and Terry; and other relatives in the Maritimes and in Finland.

Chris was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Verna Leach and Alvar and Veera Alatyppö and by his cousin, Kevin Alatyppö.

Funeral services will take place at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 6 at 11:00 am with Reverend Randy Boyd officiating; for those who wish to view the service virtually, you may do so via the Sargent & Son Facebook page. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial at Riverside Cemetery following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
