Obituary for David George Clements

It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of David George Clements, 59 years young. Dave passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, with his loving wife and daughter by his side.

Dave was born on February 25, 1961 to Dennis and Sharon Clements, in Toronto, Ontario.

Dave worked various jobs throughout his life, most recently as a baker for Bennett’s. Before that he worked at Mount Baldy and Wild Waters, where his love of paddling flourished.

Dave lived his life to the fullest, always up for an adventure. Whether it was kayaking, camping, snowboarding, biking, he could always be found outside with an infectious smile on his face saying, “It’s all good!” He loved music and was a talented musician. Dave was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. People who knew him as a kid would say he was spunky, if you knew him as an adult, you’d say the spunk never left him! Dave was a generous man, so full of life; he would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Dave lived in numerous cities throughout his life, making special friendships and memories wherever he went. He was known as “Papa Grizz” in the paddling community. Some friends would say “he was the spark to what so many of us needed.” His enthusiasm was contagious, and he wore his heart on his sleeve.

Dave’s family near and far meant the world to him. He was a proud Papa, scooping up both grandkids the second he saw them. He loved having dance parties and going on adventures with his little buddy Owen. Dave loved family dinners and just spending time together.

Dave will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his partner of 23 years Brenda LeVesconte, his children Nicole Clements, Amanda Clements, Daniel (Brandie) LeVesconte, Carol (Chris) LeVesconte, his grandchildren Owen and Aspen, his parents Dennis and Sharon Clements, his brother Randy (Anna) Clements and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, his dog Sadie, and many special friends.

“We’ll love you forever, we’ll like you for always, as long as we’re living our Papa, you’ll be.”

As per Dave’s wish, cremation has taken place. Due to current restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at TBRHSC and a special thanks to Dr. Davenport. In honour of Dave, donations can be made to the Underground Gym, as this place meant a lot to him (www.undergroundgym.ca) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
