The Douglas Clan are very sad to announce that David Douglas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on 30 April 2018, in his 81st year of life. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Sheila of 56 special years.
Beloved father of Catriona and her husband Ernie, Ian and his wife Debbie, Davina, and Christina and her husband Dennis. David was born in Old Cardowan [near Glasgow] Scotland February 28th 1937. David had a passion for dancing, which is where he met the love of his life Sheila. After they were married they emigrated to Australia where David continued to work as a heavy equipment operator. To be closer to home [Scotland], they moved to Canada in 1970, where they continued to expand and raise their family. Over the years David and his family explored many new places creating years of lasting memories.
David was a gentle loving soul who had a special woodworking gift, creating many beautiful memories for family and friends. He had the patience to fix anything.
Winters in his retirement were spent in Arizona where he and Sheila enjoyed dancing, spending time with friends, touring and taking in the sunshine.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life memorial service is being held at 11 am on Tuesday 15th May at St. John's Anglican Church, 226 Pearl St., Thunder Bay ON, followed by a light lunch in the church hall.
Special thanks to Dr. Lai and Nurse Practitioner Lisa Stein for helping give David and Sheila 25 more years together. Many thanks are also extended to Dr. Probizanski, family physician, Dr. Miller, palliative home care physician and his many nurses.
If desired, donations in memory of David can be made to the Northern Cardiac fund or Hospice Northwest. Arrangements entrusted to the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street . On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
