Obituary for David Lee Brown

We are heartbroken to share that Lee Brown passed away in the early morning of October 1, 2022 with his wife and children by his side following complications from an exceptionally brief and courageous battle with Cancer. He was born April 1, 1951 in Port Arthur, Ontario to parents Walter and Donna Brown. Lee spent his early years in Thunder Bay before moving to Shuniah Township and raising his children in a beautiful home at Sunnyside Beach overlooking Lake Superior. Lee and family then moved to Longlac, Ontario together where they have resided for nearly 30 years.

On October 26th 1978 he married the love of his life, Jo-Ann. In 1982 they welcomed the birth of their son Michael followed two years later by daughter Tiffany. They shared a beautiful love with a genuine closeness rarely seen, in a life filled with adventure. Lee immensely enjoyed the outdoors and found joy in skiing, hiking and kayaking. The family camp at West Loon Lake was a peaceful place for him to share the summer months with family and friends. Lee was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Rolling Stones and Star Trek. From collecting his favourite albums to attending concerts, music was special to him and enriched his life. Cherished friendships brought so much happiness to him. Entertaining family and friends was something he loved dearly. With champagne at the ready, he was always primed to celebrate.

Lee earned his Chartered Accountant Professional Designation following his Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Lakehead University. His long career began with Accounting firm Clarkson Gordon & Co and Headway Accounting. Lee then worked at Walter Brown Jewellers for many years, side by side with his parents. After the store closed Lee began working at Long Lake Forest Products before moving on to NAN Legal. He retired as Deputy Treasurer at the Municipality of Greenstone.

Loved ones who departed before him include his parents Walter and Donna Brown, Aunt Joan and Uncle Tom Inglis, mother-in-law Virginia and father-in-law Bill Collin, sister-in-law Patty Malone and brother-in-law John Hermanson.

Family members that will carry him in memory are his loving wife Jo-Ann, son Michael (Stacey), daughter Tiffany (Warren), sister Lynn (Bill), Uncle Dick, cousins Cathy, David (Joanie), Jim, Bill, Murray, sister-in-law Marsha, brother-in-law Wayne. Special to Lee were nieces Shannon, Leanne, Shray, Ashley, Jennifer, Zea and nephews Kyle, Bryson, Connor and Adrian.

Lee's generous and thoughtful nature would be perfectly expressed with a donation made in his name to the TBRHSC Northern Cancer Fund.

A private Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.

Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun; Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
