Obituary for Delfina Sabotig

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Delfina Sabotig on January 27, 2022, at the age of 96, with family by her side.

Delfina was born in Taipana, Udine, Italy on October 25, 1925. She lived in Taipana, then Nimis, until immigrating to Canada in 1977 after the Friuli earthquake. She was one of seven children. Delfina and Primo married in 1945 and later welcomed four children.

Delfina was always hard-working and enthusiastic about life. She cherished time spent with family, especially in her role as Nonna. Delfina remained independent in her own home with a large garden, into her nineties. She always enjoyed cooking, weekly bingo with friends, watching game shows, knitting and spending weekends at Pine Bay. In earlier years Delfina travelled back to Italy to visit family and loved family vacations to Florida. Delfina was an active member of the St. Anthony’s Seniors Club.

Delfina is lovingly remembered by her daughter Lucina Zussino, son Joe Sabotig (Shirley) and daughter-in-law Teresa Silla Sabotig. She will be sadly missed by grandchildren Mike (Tina) Zussino, Steven (Lina) Zussino, Johnny Zussino, Paul Sabotig, Caroline Sabotig (Spencer), Mark Sabotig, Lauren Sabotig and Stephanie Sabotig and great-grandchildren Chiara, Bianca, Angelica, Eva, Vienna and Landon. Delfina was predeceased by her parents Luigi and Lucia Slobbe, husband Primo, son Mario (2007), son Giuseppe at 3 years of age (1949) and son-in-law Tiziano Zussino.
