Obituary for Diane Gagnon

Diane Gagnon, a loving, kind resident of Thunder Bay, died unexpectedly on the morning of February 23, 2023 at the age of 59, in her home in Port Arthur.

Diane loved listening to music, relaxing and spending time with family.

Diane was born in Geraldton on December 20, 1963 to Duncan Gagnon and Ivy Magiskan. She soon moved to the city of Thunder Bay to grow her life as a young woman. On November 8, 1984 and June 27, 1986 respectively, she welcomed her two beautiful children, Laura and Tyrone Gagnon, who were dear to her heart, and her pride and joy.

In addition to her children, she is lovingly remembered by her stepmother; Ella Gagnon; her brothers, sister and sister in-law; Godfrey Gagnon, Lester Gagnon, Conrad Gagnon, Yvon Gagnon, Duncan Gagnon, Leslie Mendowegan, and Ester Gagnon, her uncle and her aunts; Ivan Magiskan, Effie Magiskan, Cecilia Magiskan and Victoria Magiskan.

She is predeceased by her grandparents; Nora (doodoo) Whitehead and Joseph (joomish) Magiskan, Frank Gagnon and Mary (gookwee) Gagnon, her parents; Duncan Gagnon and Ivy Magiskan, her uncles and aunt; Frank Gagnon, Walter Gagnon, Emery Gagnon, Isaac Magiskan, Willie Magiskan, Andrew Magiskan, Joe Magiskan, Mary Magiskan, and her brothers; Melvin Gagnon and Max Gagnon.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, March 6 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Sargent and Son Funeral Home on 21 N Court Street. Father Gerry McDougall will officiate. A small service and burial will commence on her home territory of Aroland First Nation on Tuesday, March 7, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the church on Sunset Drive in Aroland.
