Obituary for Edthye Takahashi

Edythe Takahashi, 94, long time resident of Thunder Bay, and most recently of Roseview Manor, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 3rd, 2020. Edythe spent many happy years in the home that her husband, George, built for her on Gordon Street. They were a couple who enjoyed travelling and downhill skiing and they both had honourary life-time memberships at Loch Lomond for their years of service and connection with the Irwin family. Edythe was still skiing even into her 70s. She had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them going out for lunch or dinner, visiting with them, and playing cribbage and other card games, quite competitively, with them. She also enjoyed making perogies every Friday at church for many years.

Edythe will be mourned by her dear family friends Julie and David Heroux and their son, Jordan, who adored her as his Baachan, and Terry Sato of Edmonton; her nephew Mark Miyamoto and his wife, Barb, and their family of Calgary; niece Naomi Akazawa and her husband, Marcel, of Gatineau, and other relatives and friends in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. Edythe appreciated and loved many friends and neighbours who enriched her life, especially Gerry and Barb Gormely, Miriam and Glen Kettering, Aggie and Ralph Webb, and Rita Rost. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, George, in 1997. As per Edythe’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Special thank you to the staff of Roseview Manor, Celeste floor, for their care and kindness, and especially to nurse, Nicole, who was very special to Edythe.
