Obituary for Edward Francis Atwill

Mr. Edward Francis Atwill “Eddie” passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20th, 2023, at home with family by his side at the age of 83.

Eddie was born to Francis “Frank” Atwill and Ruth Atwill (nee Sodergren) on February 5th, 1940 in Nipigon, Ontario where he lived all of his days.

Eddie was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He served his community faithfully through his dedication to St. Mary’s Anglican Church, the Nipigon Volunteer Fire Department, and later, caring pastorally for those in hospital. He spent his working years as a Pipefitter and his work ethic was a challenge to measure up to. He was a self taught academic and gave his family wise lessons to live by in an everchanging world. Eddie also passed on a love of all thing’s sports – hockey, bowling, curling, baseball and more.

Eddie will be lovingly remembered by his children Kim Bradbury (Adrian) of Toronto, Eddie Atwill Jr. (Monica) of Thunder Bay and Robin Harding (Martin) of Winnipeg; his six Grandchildren whom he loved so much and was so proud of - Jordan Harding (Irena), Madison Barron (Kris), Isaac and Owen Bradbury and Nathan and Alex Atwill; his two great grandchildren Lara Harding and Knox Barron. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth “Chi Chi” Paziuk, sister-in-law Rosemarie Atwill, sister-in-law Barbie Armstrong (Al), sister-in-law Pat Vivone as well as many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, and the love of his life Sandy on June 22nd, 2019, his brother Jimmy Atwill, brother-in-law John Paziuk, brother-in-law Richard Vivone, mother-in-law Mary Vivone and father-in-law Fred Vivone.
Our family wishes to thank all the caring and generous friends and caregivers who made it possible for Dad to remain at home during his last years where he could feel closer to Sandy.
