Obituary for Elinor Diane Jacker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Elinor “Norie” Diane Jacker – on June 18, 2022 – peacefully in her home. It was only through your strong spirit and even stronger strength of will that you were able to return home to the care of your loving family as you concluded your earthly journey. You spent so much of your life caring for and looking after others; never turning your back on someone in need and never giving up on those who needed you. You are loved and will be dearly missed by family and friends, for all the memories of dinners and holidays, nights spent at camp, and roads traveled together shall always be cherished.
Norie was born June 14, 1934, to Erie and Bert Tremblay in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec and at a young age she and her family moved and settled in Port Arthur, Ontario. Norie graduated from Port Arthur Collegiate High and went on to graduate from St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1954. From there, Norie continued her education in southern Ontario, specializing in Public Health, before returning to Thunder Bay to enjoy a long and passionate career as a Health and Infectious Control nurse at St. Joseph’s Care Group until her eventual retirement in 1994. Upon her retirement, Norie received commendation from Sunnybrook Hospital for her diligent work. After her retirement, Norie and Al spent much of their time at their camp at McLeish Lake, with their beloved cats, hosting friends and family alike, teaching the value and beauty of the outdoors.
Norie will always be remembered by friends, family, and neighbors for her sharp wit and loving arms. We wish you eternal rest.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Riverside Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow. We look forward to sharing memories.
