Predeceased by his loving wife and soulmate Dawn (“Muffin”) in 2006 whom he missed dearly and numerous fur babies (cats) over the years which were the light of his life and kept him great company especially after Muffin’s passing. He was also predeceased by his mother (MA) in 2005 and William Everts and many other relatives on Muffin’s side. (Dafoe family)

Gary was educated in the McIntyre School System and graduated from PATS in 1958 (Hillcrest High) and was first employed with the MNR in the Black Sturgeon area as a Government Scaler before Truck Driving became his permanent career working with companies such as Gulf and Husky, also obtaining his welding certificate and briefly working with Abitibi Bowater and Bombardier. He was passionate about country music and classic cars something him and his nephew Don enjoyed working on together.

Gary took on early retirement many years ago and enjoyed his life at his and Muffin’s home taking care of their cats and leading a simple life. He was a happy soul and people could stop and visit and enjoy a conversation and share a few laughs. He will be missed dearly by his family as well as neighbours and friends.

A special thank you to his housekeeper Helene Wolframe, long time neighbour Enzo and Brigitta D’Angelo who maintained his yard for many years especially planting beautiful flowers, as well as Gary’s cousins Sandy and June from Medina Ohio for all the calls over the years. As well to Shelley and Stephen Harris who diligently looked after Uncle Gary for the past two years due to the COVID outbreak and made sure he had food, companionship and medical care, and that is house was maintained. He treasured what you did for him and spoke of it constantly. Never ending gratitude goes out to his special nephew Don who he treated as a son and their special bond can never be severed.

Here we are side by side
We are gone, but our souls alive,
We were the same you and I
Tough, soft, but so sincere
Loved by our families so dear,
Who we knew were always near
Thro life’s pain, laughter and tears
Till God called us to his throne,
Now they know we are not alone.
Dawn Everts
