Obituary for Gary Gilbert Kaukinen
The family of Gary Gilbert Kaukinen is saddened to announce his passing of cancer on April 24, 2022 at Roseview Manor of Thunder Bay.
Gary was the eldest son born on April 7, 1943 to Arne and Rozina Kaukinen. Gary was a devoted school teacher for PACI for 30 years and a longtime member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, serving twice as council president.
Gary is lovingly remembered by his wife Sylvia; his children Jamie (Cathy) Kaukinen, Katie (Ted) Kaukinen, Karia (Ben) Kaukinen, and Jonathan (Rebecca) Kaukinen; his grandchildren Nathanael, Hannah, Jonny, Mattea and Carter; siblings Rene (Paulette) and Dana (Lana); three nieces, one nephew, and many extended family members and dear friends. Additionally, he is survived by Sylvia’s family: two sons Paul (Donna) and Daniel (Sandra), grandson Ryan and granddaughters Danielle and Jessica.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steven Bartlett officiating.
