Obituary for George Peter Kawahara

Mr. George Peter Kawahara, age 67 years, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, March 4, 2022. George was born in Fort William on August 3, 1954, the son of Takayoshi “Tom” and Yoshiko Kawahara, and was a lifetime resident. George spent over 35 years working with Lakehead Monument. He lived a happy life, enjoying camping, especially at Kab Lake, fishing, hunting and tearing up a dance floor. An absolute joy to be around, George’s smile was contagious as was his wonderful sense of humour. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. His time spent with family brought him his greatest pleasure and he was always there to support his children in all of their endeavors. George liked cars, especially his beloved Nova and Corvette and was a man who was always there to lend a hand to those in need. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his children Kyle (Julia) Kawahara and Laura (Francis Idehen) Kawahara, grandchildren Zaden and Zola, brothers: Tom (Dorlyn), Brian (Myrtle) and Gene (Terry), as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Marion and his parents. A service to celebrate George’s life will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Diane Matson presiding. Those unable to attend the service will be able to view it via Livestream on the Sargent & Son Facebook page. Memorial visitation for friends will be held on Thursday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Home. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the ALS Society would be appreciated.
