Obituary for George Edward "Ted" Pollock

POLLOCK- George Edward Pollock (Ted's) sudden and unexpected passing has left those of us who loved him, shocked and heavily grieving.
He was born in Port Arthur, Ontario December 10, 1943 and with the exception of three years living and working in Kenora, Ontario after first married, spent his life in Thunder Bay until he and Bonnie relocated in 2013 to the adult retirement community of Brighton By the Bay in Brighton, Ontario.

Ted was Chartered Accountant whose professional life was spent as a partner in Gateway Construction. He sat on the Construction Labour Relations Board of Ontario for many years as president as well as spending many years involved in Freestyle Skiing, sitting on the municipal, provincial and national board levels acting as Chairman. Ted also sat on the Board of Directors of his neighborhood Willow Glen Condo Association in Florida for several years serving as Secretary Treasurer as well as serving on the Parish Council of St. Mark's Church in McKenzie during his residence years at Coral Bay.

Ted was an avid curler in his day, winning many trophies and awards both as a junior curler and a member of several men's and mixed teams. He was a long time member of the Thunder Bay Country Club both as a curler and a golfer, then later, a member of Whitewater Golf Club where he spent time enjoying golf with his buddies. He skied as well until he retired and then spent the winters at his Florida residence where he thoroughly enjoyed himself living the retirement dream of sun, sand and sea with a little golfing thrown in for
good measure.

Ted's faith, children and family were his life. Grandsons Matt and Grady especially enriched his soul when he was able to be with them being "grampa". He lived his faith in the way he led his life, truly caring for those around him and always trying to do the right thing. His family most certainly included Breeze with whom he enjoyed many pleasurable "doggie" hours walking the neighborhood and visiting all the neighbors. They all meant everything to him.

He leaves behind his loving wife Bonnie of 48 plus years, a son Bill (Tammy), daughter Kelly (Dave Johnson), grandsons Matthew and Graydon, brother Jack (Joyce), sisters-in-law Debbie Anderson, Mary Kostynick and Kim Anderson Fuerst (Garry), nephews Michael, Jeff (Cindy)and Jim Corsie (Becky) Christopher Kostynick, John Pollock and beloved nieces Alex and Taylor Fuerst, Maureen (Mike) Beaune and Lori Pollock.

He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Alice Pollock.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 when family and friends will gather in St. Patrick's Cathedral for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am celebrated by Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street.
