Obituary for Giovanna Augruso
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the death of our mother, nonna, bisnonna and Zia, Giovanna Augruso, at the age of 97 on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022, with family by her side at St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Giovanna was born on February 5, 1925, in Curinga, Italy.
Giovanna had a good life and family was her greatest joy. She loved to cook, garden, knit, crochet and sew and was a devoted Catholic.
Giovanna is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughters Maria and Felicia (Brent), Granddaughters Nicole (Logan), Kristina (Cole), Great Granddaughters Addison, Makenna and Lucy. Sister-in-law Angela and numerous nieces and nephews as well as other relatives in Italy and Canada.
She was predeceased by husband Sebastiano, son Paul, and a daughter in infancy; brothers, Vincenzo, Giuseppe, Giovanni and Domenico; sisters Felicia and Maria; her parents Felicia and Elia; in-laws Salvatore and Maria; brothers-in-law Vittorio and Ernesto; sisters-in-law Giuseppina, Concetta and Lucia; nephew Leo and great-nephews Dylan and Zane; as well as other numerous relatives in Italy and Canada.
Giovanna was a member of the Italian Hall Women’s Auxiliary of Port Arthur where she recently celebrated her 60 years of membership, as well as St. Anthony’s CWL and St. Anthony’s Senior Club.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 28th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church on Hilldale celebrated by Father Luigi Filippini. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Entombment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony’s Church.
