Obituary for Henry Daniel Pacholczak

Henry Daniel Pacholczak
October 21, 1951 - March 9, 2022

Henry’s brothers and sisters are saddened to announce his passing on March 9, 2022 at the age of 70 years. Henry passed away peacefully in his sleep. Born in Port Arthur, he resided here for his entire life.

Henry was a carpenter by trade, belonging to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was proud of having worked on the reconstruction of the Fort William Historical Park. One of his favourite memories of working there was being the refreshment go-getter for the carpentry crew! He also built a house for one of his brothers, remodeled his parents’ family home for a sister and her husband and renovated his oldest sister’s kitchen. He was a handy person to have around and would do anything when called upon by his family. Most of us own something that he hand-built with his carpentry skills.

Having lost a leg to PAD in his later years, one could see him buzzing down Cumberland Street every day on his battery powered scooter, going for his daily coffee to meet friends or a grocery run. It was amazing how many groceries he could pack on it! He also occasionally scooted to the Cumberland Polish Combatants’ Hall to enjoy a cold brew. This Hall was special to him as his father had volunteered to help build it 70 years ago. He enjoyed the company of his longtime good friend Jeff and especially Jeff’s young kids who would crawl up onto his lap when he visited.

Henry is survived by his brothers Chester, George (Faye), Jim (Adele); sisters Jean Kowalczyk, Brenda (Joe Ariganello) and Christine (John Marshall). Numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents, Felix and Pauline, brother Tom and wife Margaret, brother-in-law Edward Kowalczyk and sister-in-law Irene Pacholczak.
