The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Horst Kehrer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Freddie

I am so sorry to hear of Fred's passing. I loved going to his store here in the Soo. He always had a beautiful smile for me and he was ever so competent. He was so helpful and knew photography inside out. And he was so generous and fair with his pricing, things were never the same after he left this city.

To illustrate, a customer came in one day while I was in the store. He was from Shannon Road and brought back some photos which did not turn out very well. It turned out that he had left  the film in his car (back window I think) in the heat of the summer for several weeks, then brought them to Freddie to develop and print. When he got home he looked at the photos and felt they were not good enough even though he had caused the poor quality by leaving the exposed film in his car and in the summer.Guess what, Freddie smiled and gave this fellow back his money. Talk about generous.

Freddie was a prince in my books,  all his customers appreciated him, you felt he was eminently fair and in today's world that is rare. I will remember him always!   Sincerely, Dieter Ropke
