Obituary for Irena Pohler

Mrs. Irena Pohler age 89 years passed away peacefully at Bethammi Nursing Home on Thursday, August 13, 2015 surrounded by the love and support of her family. Irena was born October 22, 1925 in Poland. She came to Canada in 1951, shortly after her husband John had moved to Port Arthur to set up the family home. Most of her working career was spent at the District Jail cooking for the "guests" that would often call her "mom". She loved cooking and having dinners for her family. Her family was her main focus and she truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who she loved so much. Irena will be lovingly remembered by her sons Emil (Susan) and Richard, grandchildren Leigh, Alana and Mallory. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1976 and her grandson Warren in 2004. Our family would like to sincerely thank the exceptional staff at Bethamy Nursing Home who knew and loved her so much. Also a special thanks to Father Blazek for his many regular visits.
A private funeral service will be held in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street at a later date. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial donations to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
