It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Westlake announce her passing at home in her sleep on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Jean was born on January 1, 1932 in Dauphin, Manitoba to Robert & Mary McEwen. In her younger years, Jean worked at Eaton’s in Dauphin. Jean married her one and only love, Ken Westlake on June 21, 1956 and were married 50 years. Jean was a stay-at-home mom until the girls were older and then went to work at Covello’s for several years. Jean loved to knit, bake, travel which mom and dad wintered in Arizona for many years. Mom lived independently for 16 years after dad passed away. Mom was a Winnipeg Blue bombers and Toronto Blue Jay fan seeing many games in person and on TV. Mom was a member of TOPS for 50 years and just recently received for 50-year pin and certificate.

Jean is survived by her daughters Betty Westlake, Barb (Clyde) Raymer, both of Thunder Bay and Bev (Ken) Johnson of Henderson, Nevada, by her grandchildren Christina, Greaves of Weyburn, SK and Shamus (Stephanie) Raymer of Powassan, On, by her great-grandchildren Chrissy, Ashana, Arianah, Kylie, Michael, Sara, Abby and Ella, by her great great-grandchildren Braxton and Elena, by her brother Robert of Winnipeg, MB and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Ken in 2006, parents Robert and Mary McEwen, mother and father-in-law Bessie and Frank Westlake, brother-in-law Frank Westlake, sisters-in-law Cassie Westlake and Florence.

Funeral Services for Jean will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior. Those wishing to attend the service virtually may do so on the Sargent and Son Facebook page. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choice.
