The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Porter can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolences

Condolence From: Liisa Rahkola
Condolence: My condolences to my Porter cousins and their families.
I am so sorry to hear that our Uncle Jack has passed away. When I was a child, and he and Aunt Gert visited, I remember them as a wonderful pair who took great pride in their family and home. Then, after many years, I was so pleased to be able to reunite with Uncle Jack at the Rahkola reunion hosted by Bob and Susan. In addition to reconnecting with all the Porters and Quanburys, it was wonderful to see that Uncle Jack was was still the same man I remember from my childhood, with his handsome looks, his gentle humour and his gentlemanly ways. I’m sure he will live on with great influence and respect in the memories of his loving family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Your cousin, Liisa Rahkola.

Condolence From: Wayne Rayner
Condolence: I talked with Jack several times since he moved into 30 Secord St. My mother Lucy Rayner was living there from 2001 till 2014. I worked in the Marathon mill in the steam/recovery till I also retired so Jack and I had something in common (besides getting old) to talk about.
Sorry for your loss, Jack was fun to shoot the breeze with and seemed to have a zest for life.
Wayne.
