Obituary for Jon-Paul William L'Esperance

It is with sadness that the family of Jon-Paul “JP” William L’Esperance, 47, announces his passing on May 12, 2022.

Jon-Paul was born on December 30, 1974, in Thunder Bay, ON to Roy L’Esperance and Barbara Hay. He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in the class of 1993. He married Rebecca MacMullen on May 20, 2003, and had the honour of raising their two sons and two daughters. JP was an avid dart player of Lakehead Dart League and Thursday night ANAF darts which he did with his wife, parents, and the many good friends he made there over the years. He was a self-proclaimed “nap enthusiast”, a talented artist, and an active content creator on YouTube. Above all else, he was a very proud dad – his kids were the light of his life and you could tell by the way he spoke about them and showed pictures to anyone and everyone.

JP is lovingly remembered by his wife Rebecca; daughters Teagan and Rylee; sons Drew and Rusty; parents Barbara Hay and Roy L’Esperance; sisters Danielle (Brent) and Jennifer; in-laws Mike and Carey MacMullen and Trish (Johnny) and Sara (Bret); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by grandparents William “Bill” Hay, Ruth Topp, Dacre Topp, and Ervin and Ellen L’Esperance and uncles Don Hay, Rick L’Esperance, and aunt Judy (Ray) Stewart.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date. A trust fund has been established for his daughters at TD Canada Trust Bank, kindly email donations to leigh977@hotmail.com or call the funeral home for the account number. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
