Obituary for Kerry Murphy

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father and papa, James “Kerry” Murphy or as everyone called him (Murph) on May 4,2023.

Kerry was born on July 21, 1954, in Fort William, Ontario to parents Harry and Vera Murphy. Kerry’s love for clothing began when he started working at Mcgolricks Clothing and from there he went on to work at Andy Coffey. Kerry left the clothing business to work at Old Dutch, eventually getting his own route and after many years of delivering potato chips to various stores in and around the city he retired in 2008. You would never see Kerry with the same outfit on more than once. Kerry loved golf from a young age. You could either see him on the course or at the BBQ flipping the burgers or hotdogs. His motto was “if you can’t play well…dress well”.

Family was everything to Kerry whether it was playing taxi to his kids, grandkids or the one to make a joke to lighten up the room. He sure put a smile on everyone’s face. Kerry loved spending the winters in Arizona to escape the Thunder Bay cold having just returned on April 30/23.

Kerry is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Antoinette “Toni”, son Blair (Gillian), daughters Jessica (Travis) Oshimo, and Ashlee (Jarrad) Pearce, grandkids Riley O’Connor, Mila and Matthew Oshimo also survived by brother Brad (Judy), mother-in-law Livia Nardari, brother-in-law Joe (Lynn) Nardari, sister-in-law Adriana (John) Geravelis and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kerry was predeceased by his father Harry, mother and stepfather Vera and Bob Boorman and father-in-law Angelo Nardari.
