Obituary for Kevin John Wigmore

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Kevin John Wigmore, age 60 years with his loving family by his side after a nine month battle with cancer on Friday, February 3, 2023.

Kevin was born on September 20, 1962 in Fort William, Ontario, to parents George and Margaret Wigmore. Kevin was a dedicated family man, inspiring a love of sport and outdoor activities. Summers were bright and warm at Pass Lake with boating and water fun. Kevin grounded his sons in life skills for home ownership. Kevin loved warm vacation destinations where relaxing on the beach eased his “white knuckled flying” feeling. At home, Kevin’s backyard patio and fireplace hospitality was epic. Family and friends gathered and enjoyed Kevin’s quick wit, backyard grilled food and huge generosity. Kevin cherished these many experiences with family, co-workers and friends. Kevin retired from the City of Thunder Bay after 32 years of service.

Kevin will be lovingly remembered by Ellen (Kitten) his soulmate and wife of 31 wonderful years and his sons Blake and Devin (Montana). One of his proudest moments was being able to walk with Montana across the beach to marry her love, Devin, in September 2022.

Kevin was predeceased by his mother Margaret (nee Douglas) in 2005.

Kevin is survived by his father George, sister Brenda (Kevin Nahkala), nephews Mitchell and Cameron, aunt Violet, sisters-in-law Ann (Gary) Kerton of Sault Ste Marie, ON, Cailen (Andy) Hensel of Bakersfield, CA, Cindy of Marathon, ON, Debbie (Henry) Rubert of Calgary, AB and brother-in-law John (Louise) Blake of Marathon, ON, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Fur “grandbabies” Boss, Riggs, Leo and Bella miss Kevin’s attention.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Care Centre and Palliative Care especially Justin, Sabrina and Joseph for your care and compassion shown towards Kevin and our family during this difficult time.

A memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023 in the chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Fund or to the Charity of your Choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.sargentandson.com.
