Obituary for Leona Bergkvist
Leona Bergkvist, age 68, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2022 with her daughter Michelle by her side.
Leona was born on February 25, 1954 in Rainy River, Ontario. Throughout her life, Leona was always a fighter no matter what struggles and challenges life threw at her. Despite her disabilities, Leona worked as a social worker as well as a foster parent. She volunteered for many organizations throughout her life. Leona was always full of life and you could see the love she had for her family and friends as well as her love for animals, especially her dogs. Leona was an incredible woman who never let anything stop her.
Leona is survived by her daughter Michelle Orpel, her grandchildren Alex and Maddi Orpel, many brothers and sisters as well as nieces and nephews and many extended family and close friends. Leona is also survived by her partner of over 20 years Ed Rohanchuk and his children Margaret and Michael.
The family would like to thank the staff at TBRHSC in ICU for the compassionate care given during this difficult time.
