As a young girl she moved with her family to Port Arthur where she lived the rest of her life. In 1960 she married Stephen Kubinec and together they had 4 children. Along with raising their family, Stephen and Lila enjoyed traveling and spending time at the family camp at Sunnyside Beach where the family would live during the summer months. She gave of her time as a volunteer at the school library. In 1981 she and Steve became owners of Keenan Sheet Metal & Heating. Lila became a self-taught bookkeeper and passed those skills onto one of her kids. After the passing of Steve in 1999 she retired from the family business. In 2003 she married Larry Polonoski and they enjoyed their retirement years together traveling and spending time at camp and with family.
