Obituary for Lyla Marie Lecky (Anderson)

Mrs. Margaret “Lyla” Marie Lecky (nee Anderson), age 93 years a long time resident of Port Arthur, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 after a long life…. well lived.
Lyla was born on April 14, 1922 to Mary and Bill Anderson. She married Bert Lecky on August 26, 1947 and he predeceased her on March 3, 2000.
Mom was an active member of St. Andrew’s R.C. Church and C.W.L. for over 60 years. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Saturday night mass. She worked at the rectory, bookkeeping for the church after her retirement from McKitrick’s Law Office.
Mom volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the tuck shop for many years. She was probably one of their best customers, she loved when new stock would arrive.
Mom loved to volunteer and meet new people. She loved to go to teas, two bit auctions and bizarres. She also loved the casinos, Grand Portage day trips were one of her favourites.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bert, son David and her brother Francis Anderson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Peter, daughters, Marie (Ab) and Catherine (Doug), granddaughters, Erin (Andrew), Heather (Carl) and Kirstin (Brad) and grandson, Adam, great grandchildren, Colin, Hudson and Fiona, sister, Pat (Art) Beavis, sisters-in-law, Joan Anderson and Maxine Lecky. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive,
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 when family and friends will gather at St. Andrew’s R.C. Church for Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m., celebrated by Rev. Alan Albao and con-celebrated by Rev. Rey Ronquillo. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s R.C. Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening (tonight) from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street.
As expressions of sympathy the family respectfully requests memorials to the Dew Drop Inn or to St. Joseph’s Foundation. On-line condolences may be made at: www.sargentandson.com.
