Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marcel Nigro, age 59, with family by his side on Friday, March 26, 2021.

Marcel was born on April 12, 1961 in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Port Arthur Collegiate and continued education at Confederation College and Lakehead University, followed by a career at Children's Aids Society. He was so devoted to his vocation, providing much needed encouragement, inspiration, and compassion to outreach youth in Thunder Bay. His impact on the lives of so many children and their parents in our community will never go unnoticed.

He was adored by so many friends and coworkers for his kind and caring nature, friendly demeanor, empathy of others and incredible generosity. Everyone who knew Marcel were touched by his purity in heart, humility, charm, and incredible sense of humor. Although stricken by an aggressive cancer, Marcel displayed profound courage, for he cherished the gift of life, the company of friends and the deep love of family.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Lina, brother Saverio, Robert (Maria) and Frank, uncle Guido and aunt Renata Lepore, father in law Settimio Biscardi, brother in laws Lou (Sharon), Tony (Karen), as well as numerous nieces and
nephews, godchildren and loving cousins throughout Canada, USA and Italy.

Predeceased by parents Michael and Franca Nigro and mother-in-law Faustina Biscardi.

We would sincerely like to thank Dr. David Probizanski, family physician, Dr. Marcus Powlowski for understanding, friendship and advocacy, and all the numerous medical team members including Jessie and Jeff from ParaMed as well as those from the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.

A special thank you to Dr. Joey Del Paggio for his compassion, empathy, and professional focused care for Marcel.

On behalf of the Nigro family, we also want to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts and assistance of Madison and Dr. Evan Pisick of the Cancer Treatment Centre’s of America who gave freely of their time to help in Marcel’s treatment.

Dear Lena I just had to send my condolences to you-l was quite shocked to hear of Marcel's passing as we've lost touch since you broke your leg and l havent seen your smiling face at work. You must be devasted but l m glad you werent at work so you could be by your man's side-being the loving and supporting wife/friend to help him with his life s journey. And you always were-you two did much together and had such a beautiful relationship that you two could blossom also by pursuing your own interests. I ll never forget the embarrassing "full moon" while we were waiting for the bayou boogie bus lol and other joyous usually music related moments where l got to see you both together, happy and so in love. The winds were blowing ridiculously strong the the day of marcel's service because of the loss of such a big hearted soul Take good care lady Rhonda Koski
