Mrs. Maria Adelina Pereira, age 98 years passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Roseview Manor. Born on March 3, 1924 in Ponta Delgada, San Miguel, Acores, Portugal. Maria and Joao were married in 1947 in Portugal and made the decision to move to Canada with their 3 small children Jose, John and Maria Grace. Maria was a tremendous cook; the door was always open to her home to share in the delicious meals that she would make. She was always cleaning, sewing and croqueting beautiful pieces. A devoted Catholic, Maria was a proud member of St. Anthony’s R.C. Church. She knew the Bible inside and out. Maria will be lovingly remembered by her son John (Rosemary), her daughter Maria Grace (David), her grandchildren Nelson, Glen, Ashley, Allison (Helder), Andrea, Chantel (Eddie) and Kyle (Liz), by great-grandchildren Preston, Miguel, Caleb and Victoria and her niece Fatima Rodrigues. Maria was predeceased by her husband Joao, son Jose, parents Jacinto and Maria Cabral, brothers Jose, Alfredo and sister Irondina. The family wishes to thank the staff at Roseview Manor for their compassion towards Maria, especially the last two people who were with her, Jason and Carol. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church with Rev. Luigi Filippini officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with vigil prayers beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. Interment will take place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to SickKids.
