Obituary for Maria Amelia Sousa
Mrs. Maria Amelia Sousa, age 89 years passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2022 in the TBRHSC. Maria was born on May 6, 1933 in Santa Barbara, Azores, Portugal. Maria loved to bake and cook delicious meals for her family. Everything Maria did was for her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Maria will be lovingly remembered by her children Jose (Connie), Antonio (Irene), Duarte (Carma), Pedro (Iria), Carlos (Sheanna), Diana (Manuel) Cerqueira, by grandchildren Bruno Sousa, Brian Sousa, Michael (Stephanie) Sousa, Chris (Marisa) Sousa, Ashley (Kyle) May, Sophia (Nick) Grassia, Steven (Allie) Sousa, Jessica (Lenio) Flores, Brian (Desiree) Sousa, Kayla (Christian) and Andrea Sousa, Syvanna, Mathew, Aleecia and Azora Sousa, Ruben (Ashley) Cerqueira, Jessica (Shawn) Seagries and Nicholas Cerqueira as well as 19 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Jose Sousa.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor 5N and the staff at the regional hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 when family and friends will gather in St. Anthony’s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. with the Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street.
