Obituary for Melissa Arline Rene Doncaster

Doncaster

Melissa Arlene Doncaster, age 36 years, passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 27th as the result of complications from diabetes.

Melissa was born and raised in Thunder Bay and educated at local schools. She obtained her qualification as a certified aesthetician, as well as a diploma as a legal administrative assistant and worked in both fields prior to the onset of her illness.

Melissa loved music, the outdoors and was an avid reader. She also had a natural connection to children and enjoyed helping her friends with childcare. In recent years, she developed a passion for cooking and her homemade vegetable soup was a favourite comfort food to share with friends and family. Everyone who knew Melissa knew that her favourite colour was green and she recently was very proud of her "green thumb" efforts in growing herbs and vegetables.

Left to miss her dearly is her son, Owen; parents, Ron and Judi Doncaster and her special friend, Dennis White.

She is also survived by her aunts, Bonnie Morrison and Marcia Parry (Jeff ) as well as numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Stacey; grandparents Arlene and Edgar Laprade and Irene and John Doncaster; Uncle Bill Morrison and cousin David Morrison.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret's RC Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 2nd with a private internment at a later time. Friends who so desire may make a contribution to either the Owen Doncaster Trust Fund, care of any Thunder Bay location of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements entrusted to the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
