Melody Frances Marie Wanakamik passed away suddenly at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on February 6, 2022 with family by her side. She was born on December 6, 1988 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Melody is predeceased by her common-law husband, Brandon, grandparents, Irene and Thaddeus Cheesaquay, and Charlie and Helen Shapwaykeesic, also by many aunts and uncles but most recently by Yvonne Hobson and uncle Stanley Cheesaquay. Melody is survived by her parents, Eugene and Jessie Wanakamik, sisters Melissa (Edgar) and Samantha (Maverick) and brothers Eugene Jr. (Rosanna) and Jeffrey, and uncle George Cheesaquay. She will also be lovingly missed by her five children; Phoenix, Cedar, Cree, Journey and Kansas. Her partner Dwayne, will miss her too. She also leaves behind 18 nieces and nephews. She loved her children and partner immensely. She enjoyed being with her family and spending time with relatives and friends. Her passion was firefighting during the summer months and listening to music and making people laugh. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 in the chapel of Sargent & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held all day on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Armstrong Curling Rink. Funeral will be held at 11:oo a.m. at Our Lady of Snows R.C. Church in Armstrong on Saturday with interment at Hillside Cemetery.
