Obituary for Michel Jean Guy Couillard

COUILLARD- Mr. Michel Jean-Guy Couillard, age 55 years, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 12, 2021. Michel was born on June 18, 1965 in Sudbury, Ontario, growing up there until moving to Thunder Bay as a young man. He was a very active person until his ill health no longer allowed him to be. He enjoyed bowling every Wednesday at Galaxy Lanes, attending hockey and baseball games, getting out into the community but most of all he loved his Coca Cola. Family gatherings were times that Michel cherished most and with his wonderful personality and terrific sense of humour he was the life of the party. Michel will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his mother Paulette Ranger, sisters: Louise (Chris) Wright, Natalie Couillard and Manon (Matthew) Richer as well as by 5 nephews and 1 niece and many other relatives. He is predeceased by fathers Gregoire Béland and Gaston Couillard.

We are grateful to Dr. Brent Bukovy who was so kind and compassionate in his care over the years and also to Dr. Simpson and the palliative care team for their care and support during the last while. We are also grateful to the support staff at Avenue II who assisted Michel for so many years. A very special thank you to the support staff at CLTB who went above and beyond to make sure that Mike was able to live out his life in the comfort of his own home. Your great care and devotion in helping Mike will always be remembered.

A private celebration of Michel’s life will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Ciaran Donnelly presiding. Those wishing to share in the celebration virtually may view it on the Sargent & Son Facebook page. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
