Obituary for Michele Turco

Michele Turco
June 6, 1938 - March 22, 2021

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather Michele Turco, at the age of 82, on March 22, 2021, at TBRHCS peacefully with family by his side.

Michele was born on June 6, 1938 in Paterno Calabro, Italy. He was the oldest of 9 children. He immigrated to Canada in 1968, and he worked various jobs, until he retired from Can Car/Bombardier. He met and married the love of his life Maria Ricci in 1973, and together they raised two devoted and loving daughters.

Michele enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, mushroom and blueberry picking, where he often shared the fruits of his labour with his family and friends. Dad was passionate about carrying on the traditions of making tomato sauce, with his tomatoes he grew from seedlings, wine and cured meats. Michele was happiest when surrounded by family and friends enjoying a glass of wine, a home cooked meal and sharing stories. He was most proud of his two daughters and dearly loved his two beautiful granddaughters and cherished his son-in-law.

Michele is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Maria, his daughters Rosa (Frank) Fabiano, Lina Turco, granddaughters Caitlyn and Alyssa Fabiano, siblings; Francesca Trevisan, Carmine (Maria) Turco, Luigi (Myriam), Rita (Piero Bonifacio), Ida, in Italy and brother-in-law, Giuseppe Cassano, in Belgium and Pietro (Modestina) Ricci, numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and Belgium.

He was predeceased by his parents Francesco Turco and Rosina Benincasa, In-laws, Guiseppe Ricci and Carmela Sale, Sisters Nella, Maria, and Lina, In-Laws Francesco Naccarato, Antonio Florio, Pietro Trevisan, Cologero Provenza, and Rosa and Raffaele Spina.
