Obituary for Myrtle Hannah Laye

Laye- Myrtle Hannah Laye, age 94 years, a resident of The Walford Arms, Thunder Bay, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital with her son by her side on Monday, September 21, 2015. Born in South Gillies on September 20, 1921, Myrtle was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hannah Parsons. A lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, Myrtle was an avid golfer and a former President of Strathcona Ladies Club. She was a volunteer for Café at 55 Plus Centre, a member of the Knitting Club for 64 years and the Rummoli Club for 30 years.
Myrtle is survived by her son Steven (Debbie), granddaughter Robin (James) and grandson Curtis, great grandson Carter, sisters; Eva Cousineau, Jessie Cheetham, and Barbara Parsons as well as her nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband George, father and mother Joseph and Hannah Parsons, sister Millie Bishop, brother Richard Parsons, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ben and Emily Laye, brothers-in-law; Ray Cousineau, Fred Johnson, George Bishop and Frank Cheetham and sister-in-law Eleanor Johnson and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Herb and Edith Laye.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street with Rev. Chris Harper of St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Church presiding.
