Our precious mother, Nancy Jane Toffan-McCarty of Thunder Bay, ON, passed away peacefully on January 23rd, 2022, at home and surrounded by love. She was born to parents Ernest and Madeleine on July 7th, 1954 in Fort Frances, ON and soon resided in Atikokan, ON.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband Bruce, her daughter Courtney Hartnett (Matt), her sons; Ernie Johnson (Amber), Bryce Johnson (Kim), Ryan Johnson (Paula) and stepson; Al McCarty (Sue). She is also survived by her grandchildren and bonus grandchildren; William, James, Michael, Ava, Gabriel, Rory, Rylan, Lyndon, Kelsey (Riley), Devin (Joanna) and her beloved sisters Margaret (Geoff) and Susan (Murray) as well as her many cherished nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Ernie and Madeleine and her brother Roy.

Nancy cherished her big family, and our memories are filled with love, loud laughter, style and the best gifts. Her adventurous spirit brought her around the world and back again to the people she loved most. Her generosity was shared with many friends and there was always an extra place at her table for whomever might want to come for dinner.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cops for Cancer fund.
