Obituary for Nona Ray TKachuk
Nona Ray Tkachuk,
Cherished by family. Nona passed away at home in Thunder Bay April 14, 2021. Dearly missed by daughters Lisa(Nelson) and Tammy(Cal), grandchildren James, Lasha, Carson, Jordan, Jacob, Cody, Chris, Darrin, Bobbie and Matt as well as by 11 great grandchildren and 1 awaited this fall. Predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Emily and Frank Usick, sister Verna Ohyrn and brother Cliff Usick.
Nona grew up on a farm in Basswood Manitoba, where you always worked hard. She took that work ethic to teacher’s college and taught a 1 room school at the tender age of 16. Whether pumping gas at the B/A-Gulf station in Beardmore with 2 little kids in tow, or working in the garden she was always busy. Retiring in Thunder Bay, Nona always loved gardening, curling and crafting. Many happy days were spent picking mushrooms and blueberries. She never lost her love of learning. Our family is much closer because of her wonderful suppers where everyone was always welcome. Above all she was always there for her family and friends.
If you wish donations may be made to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund. A private family graveside service was held at Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of the Sargent & Son Funeral Directors, 21 N. Court Street.
