Obituary for Peter Splawski


SPLAWSKI- Mr. Peter James Splawski, age 69 years, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 1, 2015 with loving family by his side. Peter was born in Fort William on July 31, 1945, the child of Pete and Mary Splawski. He spent most of his childhood living in Atikokan before moving back to Thunder Bay in 1960. Peter graduated from Lakehead University with a Degree in Mining and Technology. He worked for many years as a surveyor and long hole engineer until 2000 when he changed occupations to become a long haul driver. Peter was a kind and generous man. He enjoyed playing acoustic guitar and gardening and had a great passion for fishing. Peter's greatest love was for his family and he was happiest when spending time with them. He built his family a log cabin, a place where many fond memories were made. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Margaret, daughters Susan (Todd Hope) and Lisa (John Serafini) Splawski, grandchildren Rita Sibley and Brent Hardman, brothers Jake (Janice) and Michael (Donna) Splawski, sister Sybil Holloway, uncle Steve Splawski as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his son Jonathan, parents Pete and Mary Splawski, father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred and Connie Solly, and brothers-in-law Richard Holloway and Clifford (Kate) Solly. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street. Visitation for friends will be for 1 hour prior to service time. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund or Saint Elizabeth Health Care would be appreciated.
