Obituary for Pietro Antonio Daniele

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pietro Daniele on February 29, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Pietro was born in Chiaravalle Centrale, Catanzaro, Italy on August 11, 1934.

He came to Canada in October 1953 at the age of 19. After four years he returned to Italy and married Giulia Fabiano on January 18, 1958 and later that year he moved back to Thunder Bay where they started their family.

Pietro was a hard worker and always provided for his family. He worked in the bush camps for many years until he retired in 1997. Pietro had a passion for the outdoors and had great pride in the harvest of his garden and green house. He loved to pick mushrooms and blueberries. Most of all he looked forward to going fishing and hunting and loved spending time with his brothers, children and grandchildren. Pietro made homemade wine, sopressata, tomato sauce and he took pleasure in cooking for special events. Pietro was also a member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur and St. Anthony’s R.C. Church.

Pietro will be sadly missed by his wife Giulia; children Joe (Monika), Vitorio/Vic (Kelly), Maria/Mary (Dino) Felice, Settimio/Sam; grandchildren Desiree, Sarah, Shannon, Peter, Vanessa, Cassandra, Lucas, Danial; siblings Giovanni (Teresa), Annunziata (Francesco) Pirroncello; in-laws Angelo(Chiara) Fabiano, Maria (Joe) Cortese, Alfredo (Giovanna) Fabiano, Vincenzo (Rosalba) Fabiano, Antonio (Isabella) Fabiano, and Liberata (Nicola) Cortese. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive here, in Toronto and Italy.

Pietro was predeceased by his sons Francesco, Frank and Biaggio; parents Giuseppe and Maria-Stella (nee Servelo), 6 siblings in infancy and childhood; brother Franco Daniele; sister in law Franca Daniele; Parents in-law Francesco Fabiano and Maria Elisabetta (nee Clasadonte)

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 4th, 2016 leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel at 9:30 a.m. to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Road, for Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. to be celebrated by Father Luigi Filippini. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation with viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 3rd from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street, where the Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Pietro’s memory to the Northern Cancer Fund, St Anthony’s Church, PRO Kids, or the charity of your choice.
