The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. You wouldn't know us but we wanted you to know we have fond memories of hearing Rick's 'One Man's Opinion' on the radio for what seemed like decades. He had the patience of a saint! Rick was a staple of our youth.

Condolence: Dear Andrea, Mrs. Smith and Family,
I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Mr. Smith. I remember Mr. Smith (and Mrs. Smith) as being so kind to me as a child and teenager growing up with their children when I lived in Thunder Bay. I have such fond memories of Mr. Smith towing the famous Boler Camper to Kakabeka falls so that Andrea and I could spend the weekend camping in style.
My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Condolence: Dear Ruth, Mark and Family. We were so sad to hear about the passing of Rick as we have spoken about him a number of times over the last year as we hadn't run into you and Rick at any local events. I worked with Rick back in the 80's and always enjoyed his enthusiasm about the city and the great contritution he made to providing everyone the opportunity to be heard. Thunder Bay has lost a true gentleman and a part of its broadcast history. Ruth please know we are thinking of you in this challenging time.

Condolence: My father, Douglas Dyck, worked with Mr. Smith for years at CKPR radio. I remember hearing his voice when he'd phone to speak to my dad, and recognizing it instantly, before he could introduce himself. He was always so kind, even to a young kid like myself, and I was always reminded of home when I heard him on the radio, even years after I moved away. My thoughts are with his entire family. Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years. He will be missed.

Condolence: Dear Ruth and Family: I was saddened to hear about Rick. I still remember my daughter (Ashley) and her Golden Retriever Tess and Rick and his Spaniel Charlie taking Retrieving Lessons together. Great memory. I can still recall that you and I j stood and watched and hoped the dogs would retrieve their birds for the owners. You take care of yourself and please accept our condolences during this difficult time.
