Obituary for Rolf Karl Schnieders

SCHNIEDERS- Mr. Rolf Schnieders, age 87 years, passed away peacefully in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Thursday, September 3, 2015. Rolf was born in Uelzen, Germany on April 29, 1928, the son of Heinrich and Kathe Schnieders. Rolf came to Northwestern Ontario (Hurkett), in 1951 on a two year contract with Great Lakes Forest Products. He hoped by coming to Canada that he would earn enough money to further his education in Germany as well as help support his widowed mother and young brother in Uelzen. He bought out his contract within six months and made the decision that Canada would now be his new home. Rolf had a wonderful entrepreneurial spirit and he was involved with many different business ventures during his lifetime. Included in his various businesses were ACE Motor Electric which he started and which specialized in motor rewinding and Midwest Manufacturing. Rolf was a very hardworking man who admired others who did the same. He had many interests and especially loved fishing, dogs, gardening, and collecting just about everything and anything. Family and friends were very special to Rolf. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Nancy, daughter Kristine (Phil) Cameron, daughter-in-law Joni (Bert Viljakainen)Schnieders, step children Tracey Dosa and Rob (Ally) Russell, 9 grandchildren: Adam Czinkota, Kevin (Lauren Payette) Czinkota, Whitney (Derek Dallaire) Schnieders, Lauren (Ben Daniar) Schnieders, Ashley (Wade) Mitchell, Kylee and Brianne Dosa, Jordan Arnold and Hannah Russell; brother Gerd (Heidi) Schnieders as well as by numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives in Canada, Germany and England. Rolf was predeceased by his beloved son Bernie Schnieders, mother of his children Lillian Schnieders, brother Bernhard Schnieders and his parents. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Hubert Den Draak presiding. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Bernie Schnieders Memorial Award c/o Lakehead University or the charity of your choice would be most appreciated.
