Obituary for Ronald Ernest Clarkson



Ronald (Ernest) Clarkson
February 19th. 1935 - July 20th, 2015

Ron Clarkson, age 80 passed away peacefully at 5th floor South Unit of the St. Joseph's
Hospital, on July 20th, 2015 with family at his side.
Ron was born in Port Arthur in 1935 to Wilfred and Doris Clarkson. All of his younger years
were spent between the two cities of Port Arthur and Fort William. He met and married
JaneAnn Murray in his early 20s .

Ron was a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force and his greatest love was flying the planes.
During his service he lived in almost all of the provinces in Canada and in Germany. During the
years living in Germany, Ron and JaneAnn travelled extensively throughout Europe. He retired
from the Canadian Forces as a Major and then worked for Transport Canada as an Airport
Inspector. Those final working years were spent in Barbados and Winnipeg. Following
retirement, Ron and JaneAnne returned to Thunder Bay.

Every summer Ron and JaneAnn headed to Silver Islet, the place they both considered their
home and every winter they went south to Mesa, Arizona where warm weather and wonderful
friends made for many enjoyable winters.

Ron is described by those that know him as a "true gentleman" and a "lovely man". He is
remembered by his family as a loving and wonderful father, father-in-law, granddad, uncle and
friend.

He will be missed always by his wife, JaneAnn Clarkson, his son, Steven Clarkson, daughter
Rhonda O'Hagan, daughter-in-law, Susan Clarkson, son-in-law John O'Hagan, grandchildren,
Kevin and Hannah Clarkson, Ryan and Shannon Clarkson, Colleen O'Hagan, greatgrandchildren

Benjamin Clarkson (pre-deceased), Tobiah Clarkson, Chloe Clarkson, sister
Marge Romick, brothers-in-law, David Murray, Rick Perrier, David Fedorchuk , sisters-in-law,
Lynda Perrier and Sharon Murray, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Anna Laakso and the staff of 5 South at St. Joseph's Hospital for the
wonderful care they provided and for making his last days comfortable with his family at his
side.

No service will be held at this time. Cremation has occurred. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations to the Parkinson Society Canada or St. Joseph's Foundation of Thunder Bay would
be greatly appreciated. This can be done on-line at the Sargent and Son web site.
