Obituary for Salvatore Larizza

With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Salvatore Larizza on May 14, 2022, in Catanzaro, Italy. We mourn the loss of a dear and beloved father, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and great friend.

On May 11, 1949, Salvatore was born in Serra San Bruno, Italy, to Giuseppe Larizza and Brunina Pisani. The second youngest of six children, Salvatore lived his life in the moment and to the fullest. Everywhere he went, he made friends and was simply a joy to be around. His stories of countless adventures, philosophical discussions, and genuine care for his friends and loved ones will be missed.

Salvatore truly was a kind, compassionate, gentle, generous, and honourable man who found strength and peace through his faith and devotion to God. It was not uncommon for Salvatore to visit a holy place, and he would often worship at the shrine of La Madonna dello Scoglio in Santa Domenica.

Salvatore’s loss will leave a void for many and his beautiful soul will never be forgotten. He will forever remain in the hearts of his daughter Annamarie; sister Raffaela Tassone; brother Rosario Larizza and his wife Maria; sister Maria Federico and her husband Sam; brother-in-law Giuseppe Vallelunga; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Salvatore was predeceased by his parents Brunina and Giuseppe Larizza; sister Rita Larizza; sister Serafina Vallelunga; brother-in-law Antonio Tassone; and great-niece Serafina Vallelunga. He is now reunited with them.

We extend an invitation to friends and family to join us in a celebration of Salvatore’s life on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm at the Sargent and Son Chapel. Visitation will begin at 2:30 pm and a memorial tribute officiated by Deacon Pasquale Coccimiglio will be held at 3:00 pm.

A sincere thank you to all those who have supported us. We are grateful for the visits, prayers, and many acts of kindness.
