It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Percival “Sandy” Alexander Gillis, age 85 years at home on February 15, 2021. Sandy was the son of Percival Garnett Gillis (deceased Jan 1969) and Frances Mae (nee Clapan – deceased March 1966). He was born and raised in the Thunder Bay area. He was employed by Great Lake Steel for numerous years. Sandy owned and operated a successful take-out corner store called Sandy’s Place during the 1980’s.He is survived by his children Shelley (Marvin), Rick and Greg (Kathy), his brother Duncan (Mickey), sisters Nancy Bridgeman and Susan Gustafson (Howard) and sister-in-law Judy Gillis as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by the love of his life Ruth (nee Goodman), his brothers Warren and Patrick and sisters Lois, Gloria, Stella, Mary, Geraldine, Loretta, Jean, Marlene and Jacqueline. At Sandy’s request, cremation will take place. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Fund.
