Obituary for Stanley Vlotaros

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley Vlotaros Sr. On May 29th at St. Josephs Hospice with family at his side.

Stan was born in Karpasi, Lemnos, Greece, and immigrated to Canada in 1965 with his Parents Athena Vlotaros (nee Psiroukis) and Vlotis Vlotaros, when he was 16years old.

With the help of some of his friends in the Greek Community, he began work as a painter a few years later and applied his skill in that trade for the remainder of his life. Stan left his mark on many bridges, Grain Elevators, and other Industrial Sites from the West Coast of Canada to the mid east of Ontario while in the employment of Clara Industrial Services and was well known throughout the community for his skill as a Spray man.

Whether Family or Friend, Stan would lend a hand to anyone that asked, and his door was always open to anyone in need.

Stan met his wife Jenet “Dodie” in 1969 and they married in 1970 in Sudbury. They had three beautiful children; Rachel, Stanley Jr. (Dorothy), and Athena; who in turn blessed them with six beautiful Grand children and six Great Grandchildren. Needless to say, they became the focus of his life and he spoiled them shamelessly.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Rachel Mae, and his parents Athena and Vlotis Vlotaros.

He is survived by his wife Jenet, daughter Tina, Son Stanley Jr. (Dorothy), sister Lily Tsekouras (Harry) and brother Peter Vlotaros (Christine) as well as many Nieces, Nephews, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Simpson, Dr. Miller, Dr. Migay and Dr. Sellick at St. Joseph’s Hospice. A very special Thank you to the nursing staff at St. Josephs Hospice for the exemplary care and compassion they provided for Stan and his family. We would also like to thank Dr. Marchuck, Dr. Atallah, Dr. Asseyev and their staff for doing everything in their power to fight this disease. We will be eternally grateful for your efforts on his behalf.

Stan especially enjoyed the many visits from family and friends and the special treats of his favorite foods during his illness. May God bless you all.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2022 in Chapel of Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N Court Street with Fr. Kosta Tsiolas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice or to Northern Cancer Fund.
